VMware is a provider of software for virtualization and cloud computing. Lansweeper Scans the VMware servers as well as all installed machines.
Scanned VMware Information
Like with most other devices Lansweeper will retrieve the basic information from your VMware server, including but not limited to:
Disk
Installed guest machines
Network interfaces
Manufacturer
Model
Memory
Processor
Uptime
Installed Guest Machines
When Lansweeper scans a VMware server, it will automatically list all installed guest machines. These virtual machines are treated the same way as physical machines and have their own asset pages. If the guest machines have the VMware tools installed, its asset page will make mention of the VMware server that the machine is hosted on as well. This is also an easy way to tell if an asset is a physical or virtual machine, as this information will only show up for virtual devices. The list of guest machines is made up of clickable links. That way you can easily navigate from the host’s asset page to the virtual machine’s and vice versa.
Network Interfaces
The VMware server’s asset page also includes a list of network interfaces. This one lists the available ports and connected network cards or other devices and includes additional information such as connection speed and MTU.
