What impact has your nominee demonstrated professionally and in the community to support this candidacy?
The team has performed consistently well under high workloads for extended periods of time. With a user to technician ratio of about 90 to 1, this team of 4 has kept a complex suite of industries up and running.
Each industry/investment, ranging from commercial property to gym supplements, each with its own software, requirements, and processes. All done in South Africa, where fast & stable internet is still a luxury and power cuts a daily occurrence.
This team managed to keep the company going during the toughest time for IT in recent history, the sudden shift to ‘work from home’ during the COVID-19 lockdown.
How has Lansweeper helped in making that impact?
While it has always been a pain to get users to log their tickets, Lansweeper has never been the bottleneck.
The accurate and successful scanning of network assets helps us out greatly and knowing we can trust the data that Lansweeper collected helps us with faster turnaround times.
The smooth integration and reporting from devices outside our network, via the LsAgent scanning agent, has proven to be invaluable.
What has been your biggest challenge so far in 2020?
The sudden shift to work from home and self-isolation during the pandemic put allot of extra pressure on IT. Not only in solutions to keep staff connected from home, but other areas that had to evolve due to these changes. The “paperless” office went from an inconvenience to necessity, training included. Backup solutions, infrastructure changes & upgrades… Investments merging, changing & retrenching to survive, these all come with loads of IT overhead.
When it rains it pours in IT, this was a storm of epic proportions. I’m glad we didn’t see this coming. Think we would have changed our profession if we did.
