Developed by Qbik New Zealand Limited, WinGate is a software designed to provide various functions for computers and systems running on Microsoft Windows. The software is basically a multi-protocol proxy server, internet gateway, and email server that was first released in October 1995.
The initial release of the server software was a rewrite of SocketSet, which was a product released previously as a prototype by Adrien de Croy. The core function of the latest release of WinGate is to provide access control, firewall, router, antivirus, VP server, web caching, reporting, content filtering, email server, and bandwidth management. The software comes in three versions including standard, professional, and enterprise.
