June 2019 Patch Tuesday Fixes 88 Vulnerabilities

TL;DR – Go Straight to the Patch Tuesday Report

Microsoft released its June 2019 software updates to address a total of 88 vulnerabilities in its Windows operating systems and other products. Included in this month’s updates are fixes for four publicly disclosed vulnerabilities, but none of them have been discovered being actively exploited.

The June 2019 updates include patches Windows OS, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge browser, Microsoft Office and Services, Skype for Business, Microsoft Lync, Microsoft Exchange Server, and Azure.

Four Publicly Disclosed Vulnerabilities

Microsoft patched four Windows operating system bugs, all of which are already publicly known or have proof of concept exploits, as part of its June Patch Tuesday security bulletin. Each of the vulnerabilities is rated important and there are no reports of public exploitation for the flaws. All four of the known bugs (CVE-2019-1069, CVE-2019-1064, CVE-2019-1053, and CVE-2019-0973) should be a patching priority for system administrators.

  • CVE-2019-0973 – Windows Installer Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability. This affects all currently supported Windows Operating Systems.
  • CVE-2019-1053 – Windows Shell Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability. This affects all currently supported Windows Operating Systems.
  • CVE-2019-1064 – Windows Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability. This affects Windows 10, Server 2016 and later.
  • CVE-2019-1069 – Task Scheduler Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability. This affects Windows 10, Server 2016 and later.
