Our experts have created a Microsoft Dynamics 365 (on-premise) audit report that checks if the assets running Dynamics 365 software in your network are on a supported version. This gives you an easy and quick overview of which assets are running supported versions, and which ones need to be updated. Additionally, it also indicates how many days are remaining before a version is no longer supported.

As of the 2016 version CRM has been absorbed into the Microsoft Dynamics 365 suite.

Microsoft Dynamics CRM Lifecycle

Microsoft Dynamics CRM follows Microsofts fixed lifecycle policy, meaning it receives 5 years of mainstream support – including feature, platform, and security updates, as well as functionality fixes – followed by 5 years of extended support, which only offers security updates.

Microsoft Dynamics AX, NAV, and C5 End of Life

Microsoft Dynamics AX, Microsoft Dynamics NAV were Microsoft’s ERP tools before they were rebranded as Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations and Dynamics 365 Business Central respectively. Dynamics AX focused on mid-sized and large enterprises, whereas Dynamics NAV was better for small to medium-sized businesses. Microsoft Dynamics C5 was a similar solution, specifically aimed at very small businesses with basic accounting and business needs, before it was first absorbed into NAV and then Business Central.

Microsoft is ending support for all remaining Dynamics AX, NAV, and C5 versions as the product is continuing its life as the rebranded Microsoft Dynamics 365 SaaS solutions. Specifically, Dynamics NAV 2015 and Dynamics C5 2015 will be going end of life on January 14, 2025.

Dynamics AX, NAV, and C5 Lifecycle

Microsoft Dynamics AX, Dynamics NAV, and Dynamics C5 all follow Microsoft’s fixed lifecycle policy which means that it provides:

  • A defined support and servicing Lifecycle timeline at the time of product launch.
  • A minimum of five years Mainstream Support.
  • An additional period of Extended Support for some products.

The final version of Dynamics AX, 2012 R3 went end-of-life in January 2023. There are no more supported versions of Dynamics AX. You are advised to upgrade to Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations instead.

Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2015 and Dynamics C5 2015 End of Life

Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2015 and Dynamics C5 2015 will be going end of life on the 14th of January 2025. In order to remain supported, make sure to update any installation to a supported version. Should you choose the latter option, Microsoft has a migration guide to help you transition.

Microsoft Dynamics AX, NAV, and C5 Audit Report

Our experts created a Microsoft Dynamics AX, NAV, and C5 audit report that checks if the assets running the software in your network are on a supported version. It’s color-coded to give you an easy and quick overview of which assets are running supported versions, and which ones need to be updated. Additionally, it also indicated how many days are remaining before a version is no longer supported.

Microsoft Dynamics GP and SL

Like Dynamics 365 Business Central, Dynamics GP and SL are ERP systems aimed at small and medium-sized businesses. Dynamics SL is specifically aimed at SMBs in project-driven industries, whereas GP has a stronger focus on accounting and financial management.

There is a lot of overlap with Dynamics 365 Business Central, with the main difference being that Dynamics GP and SL were built to be on-premise, whereas Dynamics 365 Business Central was designed for the cloud, although it also has an on-premise version. There are some further differences in hosting, licensing, upgrades, updates, and functionality. Before you choose which tool to use, make sure you are well-informed of the differences.

Microsoft Dynamics GP and SL Lifecycle

All versions of Dynamics GP and Dynamics SL up to and including Dynamics GP 2018 and Dynamics SL 2018 follow Microsoft’s fixed lifecycle policy. This means they receive 5 years of mainstream support, which includes feature, platform, and security updates, as well as functionality fixes. Those are followed by 5 years of extended support, which only offers security updates.

VersionEnd of Support
Dynamics GP 2013/Dynamics GP 2013 R2April 11, 2023
Dynamics GP 2015/Dynamics GP 2015 R2April 8, 2025
Dynamics GP 2016/Dynamics GP 2016 R2July 14, 2026
Dynamics GP 2018/Dynamics GP 2018 R2January 11, 2028

Since the release of the 18.2 version in 2019, Dynamics GP now follows the modern lifecycle policy. This means it receives continuous updates. All you need to do to receive them is make sure you are up to date with the servicing and system requirements. This version does not have an end-of-life date so far. Until further notice, it will simply keep receiving updates.

Dynamics SL on the other hand only has 1 remaining supported version as of January 2025. Once this version reaches its end of life, there will be no more supported versions of Dynamics SL. Users can upgrade to Dynamics 365 Business Central instead.
