DCOM Hardening Settings Audit

Operating System Security

Find DCOM Harding Settings Configured in Your Network

DCOM hardening changes are set to take effect on March 8, 2022. These changes can potentially have a huge impact on a network infrastructure as it will restrict DCOM communication in order to increase security. Devices, services and applications that do not support the new stricter DCOM changes might stop communicating. The audit below provides an overview of all your Windows devices along with the DCOM hardening settings configured. This will give you insight into which devices have DCOM hardening enabled using the registry key provided by Microsoft. Read more about the DCOM hardening changes and the effect it can have on your IT environment in our DCOM Hardening pro tips blog post.

Before running the audit, configure the following registry key for scanning with custom registry scanning.

  • Rootkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
  • Regpath: SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Ole\AppCompat
  • Regvalue: RequireIntegrityActivationAuthenticationLevel
