SharePoint Server 2013, Microsoft’s collaboration platform, will be going end-of-life on the 11th of April 2023. This means that this version of the tool will no longer receive security updates, patches, and technical support from Microsoft. In order to stay supported, make sure that all of your installations are on the 2016 version or higher.
What Is SharePoint Server?
SharePoint Server is the on-premise version of SharePoint, Microsoft’s document management and collaboration platform. It allows you to create websites, where you can store, organize and manage documents so that they can be accessed from any device. This way, content can easily be shared with others across your organization to better support your business processes.
Compared to SharePoint in Microsoft 365 or SharePoint Online, SharePoint Server offers greater control over the design and behavior of your websites. It gives you a wider set of customization options and integrates with PowerApps, Power BI and MS Flow, and SharePoint home page.
Microsoft SharePoint Server Lifecycle
With SharePoint Server 2013 going end-of-life, there will be 3 remaining versions that are still supported: 2016, 2019, and the Subscription Edition.
All versions up to and including 2019 follow Microsoft’s Fixed Lifecycle Policy. This means that these versions receive 10 years of support. The first 5 years are mainstream support, which includes feature updates, platform updates, security updates, and functionality fixes. The following 5 years of extended support only include security updates.
The Subscription Edition follows the Modern Lifecycle Policy. You will receive continuous updates and support, as long as your installations meet the servicing and system requirements. When the product does go end of life, you will receive notification from Microsoft at least 12 months in advance.

Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013 End of Life
SharePoint Server 2013 will go end of life on the 11th of April 2023. As soon as the product goes end-of-life it will no longer receive any updates or support.
