The powerful combination of ITHealth and Lansweeper is enabling over 100+ NHS organizations to be more aware of their exposure to cybersecurity risk, manage IT resources effectively and stay cyber assured and compliant.
It Starts with a Reliable IT Asset Inventory Baseline
One of the most time-consuming tasks for any IT professional is keeping track of all IT assets, where they reside, and who is using them – let alone managing the security and compliance status of each. This is particularly challenging for NHS organizations where IT estates are typically sprawling and complex, and often include legacy software and systems. Medical professionals in hospital environments rely on — and benefit from — networked medical devices that help them access and share patient information rapidly to reduce the time it takes to make life-saving decisions and deliver essential care.
But when those devices are running outdated software, they can become vulnerable to cybersecurity risks. Ransomware attacks, malware, and hackers can exploit medical device vulnerabilities to access and steal patient information for nefarious purposes, compromising the devices themselves and putting patients in danger. On top of all that, hospitals become liable for breaches and any impact those breaches may have on patients. Read more about this in our blogpost on Why IT Asset Management in Healthcare is Essential.
Relying on error-prone spreadsheets to manage IT inventory is no longer possible. Trusting manually gathered and updated data only results in obsolete information. A much better solution is to automate the process and rely on a single source of truth. Lansweeper provides a complete and accurate overview of all that is going on in the network, automating IT asset management completely; it is the very foundation of the ITHealth Assurance Dashboard.
The ITHealth Assurance Dashboard relies on Lansweeper’s deep scan technology which discovers networks of all sizes. Lansweeper automatically, and without the need for installing agents, explore the IT environment using a wide range of network protocols and detects all assets connecting to the network. Depending on the asset types found, Lansweeper then retrieves a wealth of device-specific hardware information, an extensive list of software information, and user logon information providing a single database for your entire network inventory.

Why ITAM is Crucial for Healthcare Organizations
A Dashboard Specifically Designed for NHS IT
All this vital inventory data, uncovered by Lansweeper, is manipulated and integrated by ITHealth with other key data feeds and intelligence to form a Dashboard that’s been purpose-built for NHS IT teams. It includes a wealth of reports to support both local and national compliance requirements and help better manage exposure to cyber risk.
A Plethora of Reports to Aid Cyber Security and Compliance
For example, the Dashboard includes a ‘Windows Assurance’ overview featuring: Anti-virus status for desktops and servers, Windows Advanced Threat Protection status, drive encryption information and Windows Update Status for desktops and servers. The number of active Operating Systems and Active Directory user data is also available, as well as Windows 10 build details.
There is a tab that gives a complete overview of all the installed software in your network, with reports for software changes in the last 7 days, as well as unauthorized software installs. There’s a dedicated software vulnerability tab with an overview of all machines which have software on them with known vulnerabilities and more information about the vulnerability itself – plus, there is a tab for End of Support software to flag where software exists on your network and is nearing or already out of support.
Streamlining NHS Digital Cyber Alert and DSPT compliance
Most notable is that the ITHealth Assurance Dashboard massively streamlines the response and workflow linked to NHS Digital’s Cyber Alerts (previously known as CareCERTs). Cyber Alert details are fed directly into the ITHealth Dashboard upon release which rapidly highlights the number of affected assets so remediation can begin much sooner and be tracked ongoing. This feature is particularly helpful to ensure the 48-hour response timescale is achievable following high-severity alerts (as per DSPT assertion 6.3.2., v. 21-22).
In fact, ITHealth has mapped the Assurance Dashboard against the NHS Digital Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) and has determined that it supports 35 of the mandatory, cyber-related DSPT assertions. The Dashboard even features a dedicated tab, so that in just several clicks many of the necessary reports and supporting evidence can easily be obtained.
“We acknowledge the proven expertise of ITHealth who have enriched and built upon the inventory data that Lansweeper provides to deliver unique, value-added, actionable insights to specifically benefit NHS organizations. We are proud of our partnership which continues to grow from strength to strength.»
