Automated Software Deployment
Why Use Automated Software Deployment?
As an IT-professional, you manage tons of software on your networks. Manually deploying new software on all devices can cost an enormous amount of time. Using software deployment tools can help make this easier, and a lot faster if you use automated software deployment. With Lansweeper’s software deployment feature, you can easily install software remotely and automatically on all Windows devices in your network.
Lansweeper’s automated software deployment is agentless, which means you can install software remotely across your entire network from only one device, no matter where you are. No need to install our software on all your assets manually. Just download Lansweeper and you are ready to go. Agentless software deployment is one of the main reasons why Lansweeper is so easy to use.
First, Lansweeper scans your network either entirely or according to the IP ranges that you defined. It then centralizes all scanned data in a secure database, accessible through a user-friendly web console. After the initial scan, you can use our software deployment feature to install software on remote computers or other devices that were scanned. This is done using deployment packages. A deployment package consists of one or more steps that enable you to execute a software rollout, silently install and uninstall software and deploy software updates. But you can also run custom actions remotely, make command-line changes (like registry changes) on your machines, kill processes and run custom scripts for configuration management and more.
With Lansweeper’s automated software deployment you can create deployment packages, set conditions to check on each individual device before deploying and execute commands to remotely apply changes to Windows computers in your network. Lansweeper not only supplies a wealth of scanned computer data, it also allows you to actively take control of your network, wherever you are.
With Lansweeper, you can automate your software deployments as much as you want or need. Execute software installations manually and individually or program them to be performed in batches and/or based on a schedule. If you choose for scheduled software deployment, you can work with intervals (every X minutes, hours or days…) or opt for daily, weekly or monthly software deployment. Optionally, a wake-on-LAN for offline computers can be performed prior to your software deployment.
The software deployments you schedule, or manually perform, can be done on static or dynamic asset groups, which include IP range (IP location group), other criteria like asset name, model or report (dynamic) or manually selected groups (static). Dynamic asset groups are particularly useful in the context of software deployments. They enable you to easily target the machines that require specific software deployments. When creating custom reports, you can select assets based on outdated software versions, thus supporting your patch management.
