Mozilla’s new version for Firefox and Firefox ESR has been released with additional functionality and security releases. In Firefox 95 a new feature called RLBox has been added, a new technology to protect against potential security vulnerabilities in third-party libraries. Firefox can now also be downloaded from the Microsoft Store. Site isolation is now enabled in Firefox 95, this is for added security against side-channel attacks such as Meltdown/Spectre. Additionally, you can now move the picture-in-picture toggle button to the other side of the video.
Performance-wise, CPU usage on macOS in Firefox and Window Server during event processing has been reduced. Power usage of software decoded video on macOS has been reduced, especially in fullscreen. This includes streaming sites such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
Firefox 95 fixes 13 vulnerabilities, 7 of which are high impact. Firefox ESR 91.4 adds 10 fixes for vulnerabilities including 5 of high impact.
